Optimization of International Roughness Index Model Parameters for Sustainable Runway

Pavement roughness is a critical airport pavement characteristic that has been linked to impacts such as safety and service life. A properly defined evaluation method would reduce operational risk, prolong the life of aircraft landing gear, optimize decision-making process for preservation, which together positively contribute overall sustainability. In this study, we optimized parameters International Roughness Index (IRI) model resolve current poor correlation between IRI vibration responses in order adapt extend IRI’s use runway evaluation. We developed validated virtual prototype based on ADAMS/Aircraft software Boeing 737–800 then employed predict aircraft’s dynamic roughness. By developing frequency response function standard 1/4 vehicle model, obtained distribution curves IRI. Based data, used fast Fourier transform implement aircraft. utilized Particle Swarm Optimization determine more appropriate rather than modifying itself. Our case study results indicate coefficient shows qualitative leap from original model.
